I loved this episode Caroline. I’m sharing it. I wish I had such comprehensive information when I needed it. To add to the contraceptive pills, I too had to stop after six months. I felt so strange. Used the IUD with concerns on effectiveness as someone very close got pregnant in 1980. I wonder if those DS that didn’t sell in US, were given to other countries. Also, I’m with you on being reluctant to men taking contraceptive measures and on trusting their word that they are. It will depend on how “watchful” they need to be so it will require an interrogation beforehand and that might just kill the momentum;-). Looking forward to your next season. I’ll listen to the ones I have missed to catch up. And thank you for your thorough work and making this information more accessible to be shared.
Your comments about women settling for their contraception choice is so true. I battle monthly with the copper coil, as you say with heavy periods and bad cramps. There just aren’t any good options. I used to love the combined pill but you can’t take it when you get migraines. Looking forward to 7 years’ time when I need to change the coil out and HOPEFULLY there will be some better options out there to try!
For some weeks now, I no longer receive the e-mail newsletter. As I don't find a place to post this question, I post it here under the latest article. Are the e-mail newsletters no longer sent out or did my mail address somehow slip from the list?
Dalkon Shield loomed large in my family - when my aunt was trying to conceive in the late 80s she was found to have a large amount of scar tissue in her abdomen, which they suggested was due to PID caused by her IUD in the 70s. When I decided to get a Mirena (totally different kettle of fish) my mother was horrified.
Unbelievable but it wasn’t difficult to have this wild guess. Thank you.
